Project Supports System Expansion And Two-Fold Capacity Increase On Kelana Jaya Line In Kuala Lumpur

Bombardier Transportation and local partner Hartasuma Sdn Bhd have signed a contract with Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) to upgrade wayside electrical and mechanical (E&M) systems on the Kelana Jaya Line in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Total value of the contract is approximately 87 million Euros ($119 million US). Bombardier’s share is approximately 60 million Euros ($81 million US). The E&M project is scheduled for completion in late spring 2009.

Northrop Grumman to Provide Air Traffic Systems at Dubai World Central Airport


LONDON – Aug. 30, 2007 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) announced that its Europe-based subsidiary, Park Air Systems, has been awarded a $15 million contract by the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation to provide a range of integrated air traffic systems for the new Dubai World Central Airport.

QinetiQ to lead UK Energetics Consortium


QinetiQ led UK Energetics Consortium to secure strategic resource maintaining and refreshing sovereign expertise, facilities and technologies in energetic materials

QinetiQ has been awarded an initial three-year enabling contract which could be worth over £10m by the MOD Research Acquisition Organisation (RAO) to lead the UK Energetics (UK-E) consortium.

The remit of the UK-E consortium is to maintain and refresh UK expertise, facilities and technologies in energetic materials thereby providing a cornerstone in the implementation of the Defence Technology Strategy (DTS) and the Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS) for general munitions and complex weapons.

Brazil’s TAM Airlines Orders 1,000th Boeing 777


SEATTLE, Aug. 29, 2007 — The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] today announced that an order from Brazil’s TAM Airlines [BOVESPA: TAMM4 and NYSE: TAM] for four additional 777-300ERs brings to 1,003 the number of 777s ordered since the first order of the popular widebody in 1990. Today’s announcement also means that, to date in 2007, Boeing has received orders for 100 of the popular 777s.

TAM is Brazil’s largest airline, flying both domestic and international routes. TAM became the first Latin American airline to incorporate the 777-300ER into its long-range fleet plan when it booked its initial order for four 777-300ERs earlier this year. TAM’s first 777-300ER is scheduled to be delivered in June 2008. Prior to ordering these eight 777s, TAM was an exclusive Airbus operator.

Round Six of the XLR8 Home Loans Australian Formula 1 Superboat series at The Spit, on Queensland’s Gold Coast started with a whimper and finished with a bang (or two!) with a spread of action on Sunday making up for a lack luster and rain-sodden Saturday.


Crowd numbers on Saturday were reduced due to the inclement weather in the area, with the conditions flattening the surface at The Spit and proving uncomfortable for spectators and crews alike.

Sunday, however, certainly proved the saying, “beautiful one day, glorious the next” absolutely correct!
