Statement from Simon Daubney: “Yesterday I went before the five-man 32nd America’s Cup Jury in London regarding a positive doping test taken on 23 June 2007. While Anti Doping Norway did find traces of a recreational drug in the urine sample, the Jury found that there was no fault or negligence on my behalf. This comes as a relief to me as I have never knowingly taken
a banned substance however, until this matter is completely resolved, I have resigned from Alinghi, so that they can go about their business without distraction. I hope to return to the team once my name is cleared.

The Rolex TP52 Global Championship 2007 served up another day of intriguing competition on the water, just as the Costa Smeralda served up one of the worst days of weather in recent memory of those that regularly compete in this sailing mecca. A window of opportunity in the prevailing strong winds enabled the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda race officials, led by Peter Craig,
to run one of the two coastal courses included in the programme.

New Publication – The Admiral’s daughter

The author has developed a series of books around two principle characters, Kydd and Renzi, using an original basic theme of two men who come from different social backgrounds but meet as seamen in the harsh life of Nelson’s Navy. Renzi comes from a background of wealth but volunteers to be a seaman for unusual personal reasons. Kydd is from a poor background and is press ganged. Against the odds, they both become officers on merit. Over seven novels, Stockwin has developed the characters and their stories through a series of highs and lows as they struggle forward.

New Publication – The Hurricane Story

This is a volume in the Sutton ‘story’ series of pocket books that offer very good value for money. It follows the format established so successfully by the first books in the series. Colour is used throughout. Extended captions and side bar notes compliment the text in what is a lavishly illustrated book. The text is authoritative and concise, creating a work which is easy to read for a young reader establishing an interest in the subject covered, but of a competency that a professional or serious enthusiast would still find it of value. An amazing amount of detail is packed into the pages and there is everything that you might wish to know about the subject. The Hawker Hurricane was both the first heavy gun monoplane fighter to enter RAF service mounting a massive armament of eight rifle calibre machine guns at a time when most other fighters mounted two or four similar guns.

New Publication – Tars

The author has already written on the Napoleonic Wars, a period of naval history that has been heavily covered in fiction and in history. In this book he covers the period of the 7 Years War between France and Britain. This period has received very little coverage even though it was the first global conflict and marked the point when Britain emerged as the first global super power in history.

AgustaWestland is pleased to announce that Synergy Aerospace, a division of Synergy Group, has signed a contract for twelve more helicopters including AW109 Power, Grand and AW139 models.
