AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce that Eolo Plus of Mexico has taken delivery of a second AW119 Ke single engine helicopter. Eolo Plus has ordered a total of seven AgustaWestland aircraft comprising four AW119 Ke and three Grand helicopters for offshore and executive transport applications. Eolo Plus owns the first AW119 helicopter in Mexico available for charter. They are a prime provider of upscale private aviation services including national and international fixed-wing and rotorcraft transport, EMS transport services, offshore transport and VIP/corporate transport.

AgustaWestland and CAE Partner to Provide AW139 Helicopter Training in the United States

Today at the Heli-Expo show, AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, and CAE announced that AgustaWestland AW139 initial helicopter type rating and recurrent training is now available in Morristown, New Jersey, USA. The training programs are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under part 142. The AgustaWestland program utilizes a newly approved Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certified Level D AW139 full-flight simulator, located at CAE’s Northeast Training Center (NETC).

Northrop Grumman Delivers Cryocooler for Advanced Baseline Imager Sensor

REDONDO BEACH, Calif., Feb. 27, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) delivered the final flight module cooler assemblies for the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) sensor to ITT Corporation. Built by ITT, ABI is one of the primary sensors for NASA’s next generation Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-R).

ABI will provide variable area imagery and radiometric information of the Earth’s surface, atmosphere and cloud cover. Its advanced design will provide twice the spatial resolution, six times the scan rate, and more than three times the number of spectral channels compared to the current GOES imager.

BAE SYSTEMS RECEIVES $45 MILLION U.S. ARMY CONTRACT FOR VEHICLE EMERGENCY ESCAPE WINDOW KITS

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – BAE Systems received an order to provide 5,685 Vehicle Emergency Escape (VEE) Window kits from the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM). The kits are a featured component in the Army’s Fragmentation Kit Seven (FRAG 7) being fielded this year to enhance the safety and performance of the up-armored M1151 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV). The estimated total value of this contract is $45 million.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – BAE Systems successfully fired Excalibur simulation rounds from the first XM1203 Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) Cannon prototype at a U.S. Army test site. BAE Systems used Excalibur simulation rounds that mirror the mass of actual Excalibur rounds with tactical bases. The test firing verified the proper fit, function and stable flight necessary for an Excalibur round to be fired from the NLOS Cannon.

SEALY, Texas – The U.S. Army has awarded BAE Systems a contract to supply more than 5,100 armor kits, known as “B-kits”, for the Long Term Armor Strategy (LTAS) configured Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV). The contract is worth up to $190 million, with $107 million of funding already committed.

he FMTV’s LTAS is system-designed for the legendary FMTV and is comprised of the armored cab or “A-Cab” and appliqué armor or B-kit. This configuration allows FMTV crews to operate FMTVs in on- and off-road non-tactical and low-threat tactical environments with minimal vehicle weight. The crews can increase their protection during periods of increased threat levels by installing the B-kits.

Sikorsky has four confirmed customer deposit agreements for aircraft deliveries valued in excess of $5 million if converted to delivery contracts. The S-434 is the next iteration of the S-333TM helicopter, incorporating many of the design and performance technologies developed on the Fire Scout VTUAV (Vertical Takeoff Unmanned Aerial Vehicle).

Sikorsky Sells Civil S-76C++TM Helicopter to Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation

ANAHEIM, California – Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. today announced the sale of a civil S-76C++TM helicopter to Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation Company. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

It is the first sale of a Sikorsky product to Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation of China. This aircraft is expected to fly in support of civil onshore rescue missions organized by China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs. Delivery is planned for May 2009.
