South Broads RNLI Lifeboat was called out on Monday 30th March to assist Norfolk Fire & Rescue service with a fire on board a 44ft Birchwood motor cruiser, moored at St Olaves Marina. The Broads ILB1 D-514 Lord Kitchener, was launched at 2:20am and although hampered by thick fog en-route, was on scene by 2:50am.

The Inshore lifeboat crew stood by whilst fire crews fought the fire. Then once the flames were under control, the lifeboat then moved in to offer safety cover to the fire crews using breathing apparatus near the water. Meanwhile, a second team from the South Broads Station with the 4×4 Vehicle was also on scene, worked with St Olaves Marina staff to put out anti-pollution booms.
