On Wednesday 17 June the Launceston Road Runners will be holding a charity run in aid of the RNLI. Picking up from the established Sand and Culm Fun Run usually held on Bude Lifeboat Day the 6 mile run is open to all and will start and finish at Bude Rugby Club.

There are two races, a Senior 6 mile race starting at 7.15pm and a 2 x 1 mile Junior Relay at 6pm. The 6 mile course has something for everyone, a single lap route using 2 miles of flat cycle-ways for the route out, 3 miles of flat canal towpath for the route back and a connecting 1 mile hilly cross country footpath around the Whalesborough estate. The 1 mile Relay course is again a single lap using the cycle-way out and canal towpath back with a connecting path over Peter Truscotts wooden bridge. Both courses will be fully marshaled by RNLI supporters.

The Dover lifeboat was called out to a small 8m yacht being sailed single-handedly from Ramsgate to Brighton by its German owner. He called for assistance when he encountered strong winds and realised his yacht’s small auxiliary engine would not be capable of safely powering him into Dover Harbour.

At 3.45pm, the RNLI’s Severn class lifeboat, City of London II, under the command of Coxswain Stuart Richardson, headed out from the Port to the troubled yacht’s location which was about eight miles to the west.

Golden Opportunity – A Blow For Freedom

UnionJack

In one week’s time, Britons go to the polls to vote in Local Government and European elections.

This is a golden opportunity to start changing the corrupt British and European Parliaments and begin returning power from an arrogant and out-of-touch ruling elite to the people.

In other European Union Member States there are similar opportunities to strike a blow for freedom from a corrupt and totalitarian system of government.

This is a low risk opportunity that potentially offers great gains for the people.
