Off-duty RNLI lifeguards who patrol Porthtowan beach in Cornwall rescued a bride and groom who had taken a break from their wedding reception to go surfing yesterday evening (28 May).

The couple, who had married that day, were enjoying their wedding reception in the Blue Bar, which is on the beach at Porthtowan. At about 6.15pm, the groom decided to go in for surf, with his new bride joining him for a dip.
