at 2009 Phuket King's Cup Regatta

With over 110 yachts and 18 dinghies entered in 15 different classes,
this years Phuket King's Cup is shaping up for another bumper season.
Over 23 years this regatta has gone from strength to strength in both
size and reputation, to rightfully be crowned Asia's premier yachting
event. Ask any overseas sailors if they know of any big boat regattas in
Asia and they usually come back with the King's Cup. Phuket is already a
major tourism attraction and through some sailors determined efforts
have convinced the powers to be, to promote the region as a world class
marine lifestyle and yachting destination. Inaugurated in 1987 to mark
the 60th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyedej, the regatta is
traditionally held on the first week of December, when ever the 5th Dec
falls. Browse the 2009 Provisional Entry List

CLIPPER 09-10: RACE 4 – CAPE TOWN TO GERALDTON, WESTERN AUSTRALIA – DAY 8

* Yachts line up for sprint to the scoring gate
* "Six teams in with a chance" of taking gate points, says Uniquely
Singapore skipper
* Hull & Humber crew to begin preparing boat for departure

On your marks, get set for the race to the scoring gate. If you take a
look at the race viewer on www.clipperroundtheworld.com you will see the
yachts lined up like sprinters in the starting blocks, poised to fly
down the track. The distance to finish figures belie how close the eight
ocean racing boats are to the scoring gate at 55 degrees east and the
curvature of the earth is not apparent on the map. With approximately
500 nm to the gate, the next two days will make for thrilling racing and
the points to be won could go to any of the eight leading teams.

Day 4 of the Sea Dubai RC44 Gold Cup

Dubai09_SH_8347

Sea Dubai RC44 Gold Cup, 28th November 09. Not a good day for the local team, a sixth, ninth and tenth place for Sea Dubai in what turned out to be good conditions with 10 -12 knots of wind after a wait for the breeze. There were three races including the long distance race with enough wind to make the starts a nail biting kind of experience from the spectators watching boats converging on the line at speed then taking off in different directions in a bid for clean air.

Putting Country before Party

UKIPheader2

Saturday, 28th November 2009

UKIP’s new leader today reiterated the Party’s position when it comes to electoral deals. Malcolm Pearson said, “Of course we will do deals. If we could get a written guarantee of a referendum on our relationship with a post-Lisbon European Union, then it would the right thing to do.”

The UK Independence Party has often said that if such a question could be put to the British people it would be the party’s duty to work to that end. He went on, “Now I am leader, that position does not change.”
