Friday night, 28 January, the annual gala dinner in aid of Ballycotton RNLI lifeboat was held at Ballymaloe House. This is the first fundraising event of the year for the Ballycotton RNLI lifeboat fundraising committee. Over 100 guests arrived to support this charitable cause. For some it is the high light of their year. The evening started with a sumptuous meal, followed by music in the drawing room and in the conservatory. In her speech Fiona Flynn, chairman of the Ballycotton RNLI lifeboat fundraising committee, welcomed the RNLI Community Fundraising Manager, Eileen Kearney, and all the guests. She thanked the management and staff at Balllymaloe House for the care they had taken to ensure an enjoyable evening was had by all. Ms. Flynn informed the guests that in 2010 Ballycotton RNLI lifeboat had launched 22 times and helped to save 40 persons at sea. She reminded those present that without their support for events such as this it would not be possible to run this free service and asked them for their continued support. Ms. Flynn finished her speech by announcing that for the energetic guests music was provided in the conservatory by Scruffy and for those who enjoyed a more relaxed end to their evening Rory Allen was providing entertainment in the drawing room. The evening finished with guests wandering from one area to another, enjoying all that was on offer, and glad to be able to support the RNLI lifeboat service.
