East Anglian Air Ambulance Trophy returns to Kym Valley
A charity carpet bowls match was held on the 24th April 2013 in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance. This years’ match between Renhold Carpet Bowls Club and Kym Valley Carpet Bowls Club saw newly crowned Bedfordshire Carpet Bowls Champions stage a remarkable fight back only to miss out on regaining the East Anglian Air Ambulance trophy by a single point.
The match , hosted this year by Renhold Carpet Bowls Club, was held in Renhold Village Hall – and once again provided a wonderful social occasion for the players, with the Kym Valley players arriving early and determined to retain the shield!
The two teams were delighted to hear that they had raised a combined total of over £500 and that this year the money raised would go towards operating Anglia Two, East Anglian Air Ambulance helicopter for Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire at night.
Area Fundraising Manager for Bedfordshire, Paul Airton, “It is the continued generosity from events such as these which gives us the encouragement to take the next step in emergency care by deploying our helicopter at night. Whilst there was only one winner of the Trophy this evening, and congratulations obviously go to the Kym Valley team, the real winner once again was East Anglian Air Ambulance – a victory which both sides enthusiastically support.” For further information about Indoor Carpet Bowls please have a look at www.englishcarpetbowls.com
