The men and women of the British rail system play a pivotal role in keeping the British people on time
on their travels. Over the years these men and women have encountered the most unusual incidents,
people and things.
Geoff Body and Bill Parker’s Real Railway Tales is a compilation of entertaining stories told by the
people working on the tracks. The stories show how working on the trains, at the train stations or along
the tracks can often be become more than a ‘average’ job.
 A collection of strange, humorous, dramatic and fascinating tales from railway industry workers
across a variety of jobs—collated by two avid railwaymen
 Features stories of mystery derailments, brushes with fare dodgers, track subsidence, bizarre
passengers, altercations, storms and host of other stories
 Illustrated with a range of contemporary photographs and line artwork
Geoff Body worked in the railway industry from 1945 to 1976 and has been writing on railways ever
since. He has written a great number of books and articles over the years, including Railway Oddities
