Nordic American Tankers Limited (NYSE:NAT) NAT involved in rescuing 150 persons.

Nordic American Tankers Limited (“NAT” or “the Company”) announced today that one of the Company’s vessels, the Nordic Passat, performed a rescue operation, involving 150 people in the Mediterranean last Saturday afternoon, September 27, 2014. The refugees were in a wooden boat with engine trouble. Nordic Passat was in an area South East of Sicily when it got involved in the rescuing of the refugees and brought them to Augusta in Italy this Monday morning. The refugees come from Somalia, Eritrea, Bangladesh, Sudan and Palestinians from Syria and Palestinians from Lebanon. There were 14 children, 19 women and 117 men among the refugees who were in relatively good condition and were given food and shelter onboard the ship.

Orion in Final Integration Steps Before Exploration Flight Test-1


DENVER, Sept 29, 2014 – NASA and Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] have finished fueling the Orion spacecraft with ammonia, hydrazine and high pressure helium at Kennedy Space Center’s Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility. Orion has now been moved to the Launch Abort System Facility for integration with the launch abort system (LAS).

Kammuri (Northwestern Pacific Ocean)

On Sept. 29 NASA’s Terra satellite saw the bulk of strong storms within Tropical Storm Kammuri were stretched out. The storm had elongated from southwest to northeast.

Tropical Storm Kammuri continues to appear more like a cold front on satellite imagery as it transitions into an extra-tropical storm over the Northwestern Pacific Ocean.

Rachel (Eastern Pacific)

Tropical Storm Rachel strengthened into a hurricane over the weekend of Sept. 27 and 28, only to weaken back into a tropical storm by Sept. 29. NASA’s Aqua satellite passed over Rachel before it weakened and took a visible picture of the storm off Baja California’s coast.

Newborn Tropical Storm Phanfone Triggers Warnings in Northwestern Pacific

NASA’s Aqua satellite passed over newborn Tropical Storm Phanfone on Sept. 29 and captured a picture of the storm that showed thunderstorms wrapped tightly around the storm’s center, and a large band of thunderstorms spiraling into the center from the east. Phanfone is now a threat to various islands and warnings are in effect.

EBDG and Voith Turbo Marine to Discuss SI Ferry Design at Ferries 2014

The Staten Island Ferry got a big boost in the form of a $191.6 million federal grant that will fund the construction of two new 4,500–passenger ferries, harden ferry facilities against flood damage, and add emergency ferry landings around New York City. The funding was jointly announced by U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.
