Dinghy fleet opens proceedings at TOTGR

Today the Laser Standard, Radial, 4.7, 420, IOM radio controlled class, RS:One Asian Championship and the Thailand Optimist National Championships all started their quest for glory, while the grand prix Keelboats and Multihull’s completed the entry procedure and ran a practice race, to make sure all the crew are fired up and the equipment is in working order. From early morning, 10 to 15 knot southerly breeze bought the sailors delight, that continued through the afternoon, until the grey clouds building up overland descended over the course and put an end to play. Between one and three races were completed on the dinghy courses before the powerboats went into recovery mode to bring the 137 Optimists safely home.

James Webb Space Telescope’s Golden Mirror

Inside the clean room at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, the golden James Webb Space Telescope is viewed from overhead with its secondary mirror booms stowed. This is the position the secondary mirror will be in during launch. In the next few months, engineers will install other key elements, and take additional measurements to ensure the telescope is ready for space.

ESA astronaut Tim Peake controls rover from space

ESA astronaut Tim Peake today controlled, from the International Space Station, a rover nicknamed Bridget at Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage as part of an international experiment to prepare for human–robotic missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond.
