Although the winner at the Hua Hin Regatta last week, Chanokchon Wangsuk didn’t win any races today, third and fourth places is enough for her to lead the Optimist class. Duncan Gregor from Hong Kong won the first race but dropped to ninth on the second race, to end the day in second place. Intira Parnpiboon won the second race, a stark improvement from 12th in the first race, to slot into third overall.

I Nyoman Suartana from Indonesia won the only RS:One race today, as the wind changed direction and the race committee spent the rest of the afternoon relaying the course and failed to get another race away, before the storm arrived. Yancy Kaibigan from the Philippines slotted into second place with Illham Bin Wahab from Malaysia close on their heels in third place.

Two Thai girls Siripon Kaewduangngam and Duangkamon Phongern took the honours in the RS:X women’s class, while Lin from Malaysia claimed third place in front of 15 other competitors.

A bit more organised on the dinghy courses, the race committee managed to fire of three races in quick succession. The Laser Standard, Radial and 4.7’s have been divided into two classes, with Olympian Keerati Bualong leading the way after a slow race 1. Apiwat Srinkam is tied on five points with Bualong in second place, and Asri Bin Azman from Malaysia in third overall, from 24 boats in the class. Chanavee Krongprum leads the way in the Laser 4.7 class from 19 other competitors.

In the 420 class, Navee Thamsoontorn leads the way, after three races from Suthon Yampinid, that won the Optimist Championship last year and has migrated onto the 420 class.

The big boats start tomorrow and its on in a vengeance for young and old.
