February 16, 2017 — Sixteen Great Lakes bulkers of various sizes are in the shipyard for winter repair: five 1,000-foot bulk carriers, eight medium sized ships 600-700 feet long, and three tugs.

The Samson Mariner, which is operated by Samson Tug & Barge Co., Inc., has 30,000 gallons of fuel on board and the barge has 40,000 gallons of diesel on board.
