Technological innovation promises a unique passenger experience at INA

At Istanbul New Airport, İGA will implement the latest technological advances to enhance passenger experience, reduce traveller stress and open up new commercial opportunities. Some of these innovations will include using IoT and big data to manage passenger flow through the airport; implementing a bag drop desk and automated e-passport gates to help passengers get through the airport quicker; as well as building an intelligent car park. İGA mobile app will also be of vital importance in providing information to passengers and enhancing their journey.

İstanbul New Airport Receives Appreciation At The Climate Week NYC

As part of ‘Climate Week NYC’, held in New York on 18-24 September 2017, the İGA Environment and Sustainability Directorate hosted the event “Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation and Sustainable Development in Aviation” and presented the “İstanbul New Airport Climate Change Action Plan”. Bringing together leaders from the international business world, governments and civil society alongside the UN General Assembly every year since 2009, the Climate Week NYC addressed adaptation and management of global climate change this year.

‘A Record For Turkey’

In an interview with CNN Turk, Yusuf Akçayoğlu, CEO of İGA Airports Construction, has pointed out the project’s significance for Turkey’s economy. “Around 80% of the project’s materials come from Turkey,” said Akçayoğlu. Currently, more than 31,000 people are currently working at the building site. When the first phase of INA opens in the last quarter of 2018, around 100,000 will be directly employed, with 1.5 million directly and indirectly employed once the airport is fully complete.

First In Europe: INA Seeks Envision Sustainability Verification

İstanbul New Airport (INA) aims to become the first infrastructure project outside North America to obtain Envision® sustainability verification, with assessments being made of environmental, social, and economic impact. “With Envision, we have the best-possible partner on board,” says Ulku Ozeren, Director of Environment and Sustainability. “Sustainability is important to us. We constantly strive for the best. The verification process will help us build an exemplary airport that will further enhance the development of Turkey.”

ORAT: Making INA Ready For Action

ORAT (Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer) processes are underway to ensure a smooth transfer of services between Atatürk Airport and İstanbul New Airport, which will be the world’s largest airport transfer to date. Since June, a team of 20 experts from Korea, Denmark and Germany has begun preparations for trials involving aircraft, passengers and baggage, with scenarios involving adverse weather and emergency incidents.

İstanbul New Airport Signs €250m Cargo and Ground Service Agreements

İstanbul New Airport has concluded contracts with six companies for the Cargo City and Ground Services Campus. MNG, PTT, Çelebi Ground Handling, HAVAŞ, Sistem Logistics, and Bilin Logistics will serve the Cargo City, while MNG, Çelebi Ground Handling and HAVAŞ will serve the Ground Services Campus. The 25-year contracts are valued at approximately €250 million in total. 50% of leasable areas and 100 companies are now contracted.
