Air France Union Negotiations
On 10th April 2018, Air France management offered representative unions the launch of multi-year pay negotiations (2019-2021) in order to find a solution to the continuing conflict.
The negotiations for a multi-year pay agreement for 2019-2021, launched on Thursday, resumed this morning at 10am. The meeting had been suspended yesterday at 8pm at the request of the inter-union association (1), after the management gave the participants an initial agreement proposal to discuss.
This project proposes general salary increases for 2018 (an additional measure), 2019, 2020 and 2021 within the framework of a “growth pact” for the future.
This initial proposal, which is not definitive, includes:
– For 2018: an additional increase of 1%, bringing the overall increase to 2%
– For 2019, 2020 and 2021: a general wage increase of 3.6% over the period, guaranteed under
the growth pact.
Salaries would therefore be increased on average over the period, from 11% to 12% (including a general increase of 5.6% for all categories of staff as well as individual increases and the sliding seniority and skills pay scale).
This proposal would provide a response to wage demands whilst preserving the company’s growth trajectory, which has been made possible by the efforts of Air France staff in recent years.
Management regrets that the negotiations could not advance, due to members of the inter-union association refusing to enter into talks on multi-year revaluations and still demanding a 6% pay increase for all staff in 2018 (offering to spread the payment between April and October 2018).
Negotiating towards a compromise is the only way out of this conflict. The refusal to compromise and the continued loss-making strike action represents a grave responsibility towards all employees of the company and its customers, without whom Air France would not exist.

- The negotiations are taking place, in accordance with the Law, with the representative unions. However, the SNPL, SPAF and CGT have welcomed into their delegation, as the law allows, employees who are members of the non-representative unions SUD, ALTER, SNGAF and CFTC
