AY Race Report 2

2019/20 AY Grand Prix Event

Classic conditions return for the 33rd King’s Cup
By AsianYachting MultiMedia
3rd December 2019: Every year there is at least one day when the prevailing North East trade wind makes an appearance and today was the day. Classic 15 to 18 knots, clear blue sky and a memorable island course, that takes in a variation of islands to the SE of Phuket. The Racing Classes completed a windward/leeward race, before joining the Cruising Classes on an island course. The sea ripples turn into waves and the photographers get all excited about boats bashing their way into the seaway. This also gives the planning boats a chance to get up to speed and leave the displacement boats in their wake. The trick is to get finished before 1400hrs, when notoriously the breeze fades away and can leave boats drifting around, to loose valuable time in the process. Check out the AY Photo Gallery
