The 25 foot folkboat ‘Kingfisher’ from Cardigan sustained only damage to the rudder after it was saved from smashing to pieces off the foreshore of Lower Town harbour, near the T.S. Skirmisher carpark.
Fortunately no-one was aboard. Both the RNLI all-weather lifeboat and the inshore lifeboat were called out by H.M. Coastguard at approximately 8.45pm on Saturday 01 November to attempt to save the yacht which had broken from its outer mooring between Fishguard Fort and the Quay at Lower Town and been carried into Lower Town harbour by the heavy sea swell and strong wind.
