Everyone is a winner...
07:02:2010 Although sailors had to endure light winds for the first two
days, the spectacular scenery and lively parties at some of the finest
island resorts in Thailand made up for it. This allowed crews to savour
the pristine environment as they wound their way between the steep sided
limestone karsts. The breeze picked up on Day 3 and today they made fast
work of the short windward beat then a nice long downwind slide to
finish of Ko Yao Yai. Finishing early meant they could quickly disperse
and return to their home marina berths or anchorage to prepare for the
final presentation and windup party at Kan Eang Seafood 2 sponsored by
Silolona and Diva Andaman.

Khalid wins ahead of Smith on equal points
Dubai, 6th February 2010. Adel Khalid and Robyn Smith had equal points in the Laser Standard Class at the end of the hard fought fourth round of the UAE National Championships at DIMC. But it was Khalid who came out on top with the count back rule and after a regatta that had thrown everything at the two young sailors it was a tough call. ‘I sailed in all the major laser regattas in Europe over the summer and got some good results in difficult conditions and it was good training,’ said Khalid, after his win. ‘I raced in the Beijing Olympics for the UAE which was a great experience, I really hope to be able to go to London and race in 2012,’ he concluded. ‘I really needed to win the last race as I knew we were so close on points,’ said a disappointed Smith, ‘I felt that I sailed really well though and this just makes me more determined.’

February 5, 2010 (Miami, FL) - About the same time as I sent the details
of my eminent departure to Haiti on a cargo vessel loaded with relief
supplies a tête-à-tête was taking place along the Miami River. One of
the two individuals who had slaved for weeks on genuinely humanitarian
effort to fill the hold of a cargo vessel with relief supplies donated
by an assortment of NGO's, was facing yet another unanticipated road
block. RDDLinSeaFlowerHold
